In October 2012 a leaked document revealed that 17 London Fire Stations are threatened with closure. This is part of wide ranging cuts the Tory-Lib Dem government and the Tory Mayor of London Boris Johnson are making to London’s emergency services.
Clerkenwell and Islington Fire Stations have both been lined up for closure – with no consideration for the safety of local people. This Islington Labour Party is collecting signatures for a petition to Save Islington’s Fire Stations. The Tory Mayor of London Boris Johnson will make the final decision – it is vital that local people stand together to make sure our voice is heard.
Take action to Save Islington’s Fire Stations:
Update: Islington South MP Emily Thornberry will be outside Angel Sainsbury’s on Liverpool Road from 2pm this Saturday collecting signatures for the Save Islington Fire Station petition. Come down to meet Emily and sign the petition!
