Public meeting to fight Boris Johnson’s plans to close our fire stations

The Tory Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced plans to close 12 fire stations across London. In Islington we are extremely concerned about plans to close Clerkenwell and Kingsland fire stations.

Our fire stations are an essential part of keeping Islington safe and our heroic fire-fighters are a valued part of our community. Clerkenwell fire station is extremely important given is proximity to the city of London.

Islington Labour is fighting hard against the Tory Mayor of London’s reckless plans. We have handed in a petition to City Hall with thousands of signatures. Later this month fire fighters from both Clerkenwell and Kingsland supported by local councillors and Emily Thornberry MP are holding a public meeting to send a message to the Tory Mayor that our community will not tolerate these closures.

Details of this meeting is as follows:

Thursday 25th April 18.30hrs, Council Chamber, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 1XR
