Islington students record the borough’s best ever GCSE results

It is fantastic news that Islington students have recorded the borough best ever GCSE results. 63.5% of pupils in Islington achieved five A*- C grades, including the key subjects of English and maths, in 2013, compared to under 60% nationally.

Results in Islington have improved significantly faster than the national rate over the last five years, and by a massive 10% the past year alone.

With all of Islington’s secondary schools rated as either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, these results show Islington is now one of the best places for pupils to go to school in the country. This is quite a turnaround from when I was young and Islington Schools were among the worst in England.

Well done to all Islington’s brilliant students and their families, as well as all our hard working teachers.
