Remembering those who lost their lives in the First World War

100 years ago Britain entered the First World War. Below is a photo shared by my Aunt of the Perry family.

Perry Family photoIn the left of the photo is my granddad William Perry and in the centre of the photo is my great uncle Stanley Perry. My granddad and Stanley both joined up to fight in 1916. My granddad lied about his age so he could join – he was only 16 years old.

Stanley Perry was killed in the Battle of the Somme on 21 July 1916. He was aged just 21. My granddad also fought in the Somme, where he was hit by a spent bullet but survived.

RIP Stanley Perry. RIP granddad. We will remember you.
